Our Farmers

Cattle farming is a centuries-old tradition in Namibia , and the unique flavour of this heritage can be tasted in every Natures Reserve product. The national herd consists of a mix of breeds suited to warmer climates and cattle of European heritage and traits. We're proud of our cattle, and proud of our producers, world-class farmers who operate in harmony with nature, and harness free-range rearing in the pursuit of the highest quality beef.

But Meatco does more than buy from some of the finest producers in the world. We are dedicated to actively helping Namibia 's farming community to grow commercially and technically and we improve farming practises through an advisory extension service provided by our regional procurement offices.Outreach projects, information road-shows and radio broadcasts, and assistance with transportation of cattle are just some of the ways we help.

Meatco also runs a unique funding project that helps farmers grow their businesses and secure vital bank loans by guaranteeing the price of cattle. The Eqwatho (meaning 'to assist' in Oshiwambo) financing scheme enables farmers to receive down payments on animals, reducing the number exported as weaners, and boosting the local economy. For Natures Reserve, Meatco procures cattle from only the very best producers. But by forging partnerships with the whole of Namibia's farming community, we're helping to make socio-economic development a reality.
